Port Dover Kia Norfolk Knights U12 A captured the Championship at the 63rd Annual Preston International Hockey Tournament held January 13-15 in Cambridge
In their four round robin games the team beat Whitby Wildcats White 6-3, Hamilton Huskies 3-0, Collingwood Blues 3-1 and tied London Jr. Mustangs White 1-1.
The team dealt with some injuries and required shuffling or positions throughout the round robin games and were prepared to provide their best team efforts in Sunday's Playoff Games.
In the semi-finals the Knights team started slow but found their skating legs and as the game progressed and beat their rival, Haldimand River Kings 5-1. The finals were held at the historic Galt Arena (102 years old and the oldest functioning arena in the world). The finals featured a rematch with the London Jr Mustangs White. The Norfolk team quickly got comfortable in the special arena and jumped out to a 4-0 lead mid way through the 2nd period and used some smart team defense to win the final game 4-2.
