It was a golden weekend for the Norfolk Knights as both the U11A and U12A teams captured championship titles at the Essa Eagles Fall Classic Tournament.
It was a weekend to remember for the Norfolk Knights, as both the U11A and U12A teams travelled north to the Barrie area to compete in the Essa Eagles Fall Classic Tournament—and both returned home as champions. The Knights showcased skill, determination, and teamwork across every game, representing Norfolk with pride both on and off the ice.
The U12A Knights put together a dominant run, finishing as tournament champions after a 6–0 win over the Elgin Thames 73’s in the final. Norfolk opened with a 6–1 win over Orangeville, followed by a 2–1 victory against Oakville and a 3–0 shutout of Caledon to close out round-robin play. The Knights carried their momentum into Sunday, edging Caledon 3–2 in the semifinal before saving their best performance for last in the gold medal game. Across five games, Norfolk outscored opponents 20–4—showcasing depth, discipline, and stellar goaltending from start to finish.
The U11A Knights also skated their way to gold, capturing the championship title in a thrilling weekend of hockey. Norfolk went undefeated in the round robin with a perfect 3–0 record, then battled to a dramatic 3–2 overtime victory over Kapuskasing in the semifinals. In the championship game, the Knights showed grit, teamwork, and relentless effort to outwork the Welland Tigers 2–1 and secure the gold. Beyond the scoreboard, the weekend marked the team’s first away tournament of the season and a chance to grow even closer—both on and off the ice. The players proved that hard work, determination, and true team spirit lead to success.
